“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
Is it important that we acknowledge our Creator God? It is imperative that we recognize and understand who our Creator is. Knowing this, allows us to understand why we exist. Our origins, however, have been shrouded in mystery since the beginning of time. Why? The reason is that since the beginning, an enemy has been corrupting the truth, distorting the facts about the author of all existence. Jesus spoke about this enemy when He chided the Pharisees.
“For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)
This enemy would have us believe the following:
“In the beginning was matter, which begat the amoeba, which begat the worm, which begat the fish, which begat the amphibian, which begat the reptile, which begat the lower mammal, which begat the lemur, which begat the monkey, which begat man, who imagined God.” (Smith, Charles (1928), Third Annual Report of the American Assoc. for the Advancement of Atheism, p. 15 [cf. God Is, 1929, George Klingman (Nashville, TN: Gospel Advocate), p. 115.])
This is the basic belief of evolutionists. The evolutionist mindset has become a majority. How is it that we who believe in God and promote truth end up being a minority? The fact is that since the fall of man, Satan has been the ruler of this planet, the “God of this World”.
“Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
It should be no surprise that scriptural truth is the greatest mystery on this planet. The truth about our Creator God is more of a fairy tale in the minds of those He has created. Even we who believe in our Creator God have differing opinions on who our Creator is. It seems as if scripture is not enough because even with the Holy Bible in hand, we read something it does not teach.
A good majority of us (Christians) believe that three people created everything. Another group of us believe that Jesus Christ created everything. Only a few of us believe that it was God the Father who created everything. How do we pinpoint the truth of the matter? Well, let’s not rely on Google to help us with that. If you look it up on Google, you will find thousands of versions, in which many of us are in one of those groups. So, who is to say the version being presented here is just another one of those many that don’t hold water? All claim to be Bible-based and all claim to have solid biblical proof. If all are differing from one another, how can they all be correct? Do we want to know who is truly, our creator God?
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
This one single verse contains the answer to this question. However, a hundred people can read this single verse and understand it in a hundred different ways. Back in the days when the author of Genesis (Moses) wrote this basic and undeniable fact, it was not disputed or debated. It was understood clearly by his target readers. Today, thousands of years later, it is one of the most misunderstood and mistranslated verses in the bible. Why? The reason is that we now believe in a God that is different from the one scripture originally taught. Our belief in God is like our belief in Microsoft. Every year it is a new and improved version. The older version is no longer compatible with our way of thinking. We make enhancements and upgrades to our old theology to such an extent that our current version of the truth is now native to our understanding. Any attempt to bring us back to the old and simple biblical understanding is met with rejection and denial.
If we are satisfied with our current knowledge of who our Creator is, this can be the extent of this article. This study will be broken down into four parts. The reader can choose to read it in parts as time allows or read all four parts straight through. The curious can give it whirl and see where this is going. The goal of this essay is to allow scripture to prove itself. If the teachings of the bible cannot be proved, they cannot be the standard of our faith. Biblical truth is not relative as are opinions. Truth remains constant and unchanging no matter how you look at it.
